DISCUSSION:           Officer Eligibility List

ACTION                     Evans explained the process for hiring an officer.  All eligible applicants are subject to in-depth Psychological, a Polygraph examination, Medical Examination and Background Investigation on a pass or fail basis.  This process takes approximately 3 – 4 weeks to complete.   Once approved by Council and hired, he/she must attend the police academy.   They would not be available to start work until the January 08 timeframe.  The only exception is if the person has attended the academy in the past.

DISCUSSION:           Township Truck Traffic

ACTION:                   Evans stated at this time, being short staffed, it would put too much of a                                                 strain on the department to be back-up when Will County Sheriff’s Police                                                 are unavailable for overweight trucks, speeding, DUI’s, etc.  He said he                                                 would like to revisit the issue when he is fully staffed.

DISCUSSION:           Code Enforcement Officer

ACTION:                   Officer Dan Brimer is our new Code Enforcement Officer and will be available Mondays and Fridays.

DISCUSSION:           New Legislation to Improve Safety around Dams

ACTION:                   Puracchio explained this law creates “exclusion zones” around dangerous                                               low-head dams.  The Department of Natural Resources have placed buoys                                                 and warning signs above and below the dam and on the banks immediately                                adjacent to the dam.   It is unclear, at this point, who will monitor the                                         waterways.
