                                    Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to Open the                                              meeting at 6:00 P.M. All Yes. Motion passed

 

 

DISCUSSION:           Minutes

 

ACTION:                   Alderman Hoppe made a motion, seconded by Alderman Hall, to accept the amended minutes as written and have them placed on file.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

                                   

DISCUSSION:           Building Inspection Fees and Building Fee Ordinance Adjustments

 

ACTION:                   Based on the following suggestions Sheryl Puracchio and Don Friddle will research and prepare a schedule to present at the next meeting.

 

                                    1.  ACC Building codes need to be included in the ordinances.

                                    2.  157.03 Fees – In order to make the Building Dept. self sustaining, Orr would           like to implement a dollar amount per square footage for new construction         permits fees in lieu of 1% of cost of construction.  This would be the charge for the building permit plus inspection fees.   Building Inspector Friddle agrees with the approach.   This formula would also work with repairs,   but possibly at a lower rate per square inch.     

                                                Orr indicated categories should include “New Construction”, Commercial,         Industrial or Residential and “Alterations and Repairs” Commercial,       Industrial or Residential.

                                    3.  Orr also suggested a structured permit fee table similar to Frankfort or          Channahon.

                                    4.  Mietzner suggested doubling the price of permit fees if any work is started    without a permit.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                                       

 

DISCUSSTION         Electronic Attendance Ordinance

 

ACTION                     Puracchio explained the rules governing electronic attendance at meetings.  The first reading will take place at our next city council meeting August 21, 2007.

 

 

 

                                    Responsible Bidder Resolution

 

ACTION                     The sample Responsible Bidders Resolution is to be sent to our attorney with the suggestion being incorporated into same and putting the resolution in our City’s format.  The suggestion was a line be included in the bid package indicating contractors need to abide by the Prevailing Wage Act with a copy of the “Rates for Work Done” and “Responsible Bidding Resolution” attached.
