DISCUSSION: Emergency Procedure Recap

ACTION                     Chief Evans explained the generator located at the police department was in need of general maintenance; therefore it took some time to get it running.  Once up, it performed very well.  Alderman Mietzner asked if it possible for our Public Works Crew to perform weekly checks on the generator, but Mayor Strong felt an outside agency would be best suited to do the job since it requires electrical knowledge as well as small engine repair/maintenance.

Chief Evans is also researching the feasibility of purchasing used hand held radios.  These would be distributed to all departments and crew members during emergency situations allowing communications between all departments.  The Committee would like to implement this procedure as quickly as possible.   Chief Evans will handle the process.

DISCUSSION:        Status of New Hires

ACTION:                   Chief Evans reported the two officers, Matthew Kibbles and Adam Zinc, meet all eligibility requirements including the in-depth Psychological, polygraph examination, Medical Examination and Background Investigation.   The first candidate, Matthew Kiebles, will attend a five week FTO training class before he becomes an active officer.

Alderman Gilmour made a motion, seconded by Alderman Combes, to bring to full council the approval to hire Matthew Kiebles.

DISCUSSION: Accident Report Fee

ACTION:                   Chief Evans indicated the fee for copying accident reports needs to be increased from $5.00 to $25.00 for general reports and $50.00 for extensive reports.  He will have an ordinance prepared to present to Council.
