DISCUSSION: Sewer Plant Update
ACTION: The committee reviewed the monthly
report provided by Rogina. To date, the
project is on schedule.
DISCUSSION: Stewart
Street
ACTION: Ken Jeffries explained the
drawings that were bid off of did not show any water mains. Now mains were found that will need to be
moved out of the way for the new mains.
A letter, along with a notice in the newspaper will be submitted to the
residents affected by this project with a schedule.
Due
to the new sewer line Sheryl Puracchio stated that the “Welcome to Wilmington” and
all other signs on Route 53 (north side of town) will be removed by the Public
Works Department and placed in storage.
DISCUSSION: Sunset Ditch Project
ACTION: Ken Jeffries informed the
committee of the small hitch in the project.
A water line was in the way – the working crew was ready to cut the
pipes out of the way, the engineer was not present, and Ken would not allow the
crew to proceed. After the working crew
left the site, the public works came out and fixed the problem. This project is due to be completed by the
end of December.
DISCUSSION: 2007 MFT Roadway Project – Status Report
ACTION: Sheryl Puracchio summarized the
status report provided by Strand Associates, Inc.
Deer
Ridge Park project is currently on schedule to be completed before winter. Due to the change is weather all other MFT
projects have been put on hold until spring 2008.
DISCUSSION: B&T Sidewalk Project
ACTION: Sheryl Puracchio stated that all
contracts have been signed. We recently
received a letter from the labor board that B&T was fined (approximately
$350,000.00) for a project they performed for the City of Wilmington in
2006. All documents have been submitted
to Attorney George Mahoney for his review and recommendation on how to proceed. This project has been put on hold until spring
2008.
DISCUSSION: City Engineer
ACTION: Sheryl Puracchio is in strong
favor of hiring an in-house City Engineer by January 1, 2008 and encourages the
committee to consider this also. This
will not eliminate hiring outside engineer consulting but it will take a huge
burden off of what we are experiencing presently.
DISCUSSION: Part-time Employee
ACTION: Gary VanDuyne stated that he is
very pleased with Wayne Dukit who was hired part-time seasonal to perform leaf
vac duties. Sheryl Puracchio informed
the committee that City Hall has received many compliments from residents on
this year’s leaf removal program.
Alderman Combes made a motion and Alderman
Hermes seconded to close the meeting at 6:01pm. All yes. Motion passed.
The next meeting of this committee
