DISCUSSION:        Skate Park

 

ACTION:                   Alderman Melhorn made a motion and Alderman Brown seconded to open the discussion at 7:05 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.

 

                                    Charlie Friddle discussed the changes that will be made to the Skate Park per their insurance company recommendations.  They will put up a sign (see attached for language). The City will pay for the sign. They will be erecting a 6-foot high fence around the skate park that will have a turn style to keep bikes out. The Police will receive a key for each vehicle. The Park will set up hours for beginner skaters in the hope that it will decrease incidents.

 

                                    Chief Metta explained that the Department is receiving at least three calls a day about the Park.  He also asked that the kids be the eyes for the Police but don’t put themselves at risk trying to do anything else.  The Police will suspend kids abusing the park.

 

                                    Randy Hill stated his concerns but told the kids if they needed to the could come to his home to ask for help.  Alderman Brown stated they were also welcome at his house.

ACTION:                   Alderman Melhorn made a motion and Alderman Brown seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:56 p.m.  All yes.  Motion carried.
