ACTION: Alderman Orr called the meeting to Order at 6:00 p.m.
Alderman Hoppe made a motion and Alderman Strong seconded to approve the minutes as amended to show Mietzner arrived at 6:45 p.m. and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.
DISCUSSION: Elevation Ordinance
ACTION: McIntyre
stated that Romeoville and New Lenox didn’t have a set ordinance, it was based
on engineering. Braidwood and Coal City
have 3 feet above street. Orr stated
that two sets of standards should apply; one for single lots in established
areas and new development. Will review
at next meeting. Orr asked McIntyre to
consult with City planner Tonelli.
DISCUSSION: Building Inspector Report
ACTION: 209 Main Street – Friddle re-inspected
apartment and there are still violations. Orr instructed McIntyre to call
attorney to set procedures and what liability the City faces if this issue
isn’t rectified.
DISCUSSION: Updating
Building Codes
ACTION: Due to the fact that Friddle is finding so many discrepancies Tonelli suggested that all ordinance be eliminated and start from scratch. BOCA code would be followed until the ordinances could be updated. Mayor Strong, Friddle and City staff will be meeting to discuss this issue.
DISCUSSION: Miscellaneous
ACTION: The Committee reviewed the Police Dispatcher Minimum Age Requirement
Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Strong seconded to submit
the amended ordinance to change the minimum age to 21 years old for Police
Dispatchers for first reading at the next Council meeting. All yes. Motion passed.
The Committee reviewed the Stop
Sign request.
Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to submit
the amended ordinance to add 1 Stop Sign at Becky and Vista and a 3 Way Stop
Sign at Debbie and Vista for first reading at the next Council meeting. All yes. Motion passed.
Orr stated that the Stop Sign on Kahler and Buchanan was not warranted as
yet.
Responsible Bidders Ordinance – McIntyre distributed information on the Ordinance. The Committee questioned the necessity for this ordinance when the Prevailing Wage Ordinance already addresses this. Committee will read over and discuss at the next meeting.
Speed Limit on Widows Road – Hoppe was concerned with all the children
riding their bikes or walking to football practice and the speed limit being as
high as it is. Orr directed McIntyre to
speak with the County on reducing speed to 30 miles per hour.
