DISCUSSION:           Minutes

 

ACTION:                   Alderman Johnston made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to open discussions at 5:32 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.

 

                                    Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to Approve the Minutes as written and have them placed on file.  All yes.  Motion passed.

                                   

DISCUSSION:           Update on Police Recruit Search

 

ACTION:                   3 applicants have started the interview process.  2 have passed their polygraph and psych tests, just waiting for their background check, 1 waiting for the psych & polygraph. Evans has booked Police School one in January and one in February.  Evans and Plotts will interview candidates and then bring before Committee.

 

DISCUSSION:           MAP negotiations

 

ACTION:                   The Union has had one meeting already and has requested the City enter into the negotiation phase.  The Committee appointed Gilmour to work alongside the City’s Labor Attorney.

                                   

DISCUSSION:           Substitute Crossing Guard

 

ACTION:                   Evans stated that the Department received 2 applicants.  One had to be eliminated.  The second candidate was a retired gentleman who had previously served as a crossing guard. The Committee agreed to do a background check and then notify him that he will serve in this capacity.

 

 

 

 

DISCUSSION:           Radio Tower

 

ACTION:                   Evans will obtain bids for the tower.  $40,000 has already been received from the Elwood Fire Department as part of an intergovernmental agreement.  Alderman Orr also requested that a bid go to Cisco Systems.

 

                                    Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to have Evans send out bid information on the radio tower.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

DISCUSSION:           Executive Session

 

ACTION:                   Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to go into Executive Session at 5:44 pm to discuss a specific Personnel Issue.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

                                    Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to come out of Executive Session at 6:51 pm. All yes.  Motion passed.

 

                                    Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to go back into regular session at 5:51.  All yes. Motion passed.

 

                                    Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to send Evans agreement for Full Council vote at the December 20, 2005 meeting.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

DISCUSSION:           Adjournment

 

ACTION:                   Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to adjourn at 5:53 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
