DISCUSSION:           Scales

Alderman Hoppe made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to approve the minutes as written and placed on file.  All yes. Motion passed.

Evans explained that the company he ordered the scales from made an error in the billing.  They quoted the City a price for 4 scales when in fact it was for 2 scales.  Evans stated that it is difficult to weigh a truck with only two scales and it would take twice as long to do. The City attorney is writing a letter to the company stating the company quoted the city for four scales.  A possible compromise was discussed with the City offering to pay half price for the additional scales. Evans will let everyone know of the outcome. In the meantime he will get the scales certified. Officer Soucie is making the “dummy” scales; signs are on order, and Dow Chemical will allow the trucks to be weighed on their back parking lot.

DISCUSSION:           Dispatcher/Officer Hire

ACTION:                   A dispatcher has left and the part-time dispatcher stated that she would be interested in the full time position.

The eligibility list for the officers is down to 2.  A background check will be done on the remaining officers.  Evans scheduled police training school in January or February in case the new hire was ready.  The Police Commission will have to go through the process of creating a new eligibility list.
