Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to Approve the Minutes from the May 23, 2005 meeting as written. All yes. Motion passed.
DISCUSSION: Building
Tear Down
ACTION: Grosshening, Inc from New Lenox was the only bidder for the demolition
job on the Tenn’s Building.
Alderman
Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to Accept the bid of
$13,000 from Grosshening, Inc. of New Lenox and recommend for Full Council
Approval at the June 21, 2005 City Council Meeting. All yes. Motion
passed.
DISCUSSION: Part-Time Officers
ACTION: Chief
stated that there was an application in the local paper last week and this week
for part-time officer positions. He had
received an application and interviewed Michael Tyree. He is an accredited Police Officer from Blue
Island. He also has certifications in
sniper and range shooting. Part-time officers work Monday and Friday’s during
the day and Friday and Saturday from 7pm – 3am. There is an extra officer on during this time to cover the busiest
times. Each part-time officer is required to work an eight hour shift per
month. This is a budgeted item. The Committee agreed to recommend Michael Tyree
for full Council approval at the next City Council meeting on June 21, 2005.

is not complete. Larry Landin stated it would take two full days and will try
to install Thursday and Friday of this week.
DISCUSSION: Miscellaneous Items
ACTION: Computer Grant Chief
stated that Lt. Evans has successfully applied for a grant to purchase all new
computers in each of the squad cars.
Dow
Chemical Dow Chemical has once
again donated monies. $1,200 will go
towards the Police Liaison program for materials such as Stranger Danger
pamphlets, and Halloween Trick or Treat Bags
Bike
Patrols Chief stated that the bike
patrols have been instituted again. The
two new officers have expressed interest in the bike patrol and will need
training.
