ACTION: Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to open discussions at 5:31 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Johnston made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Approve the Minutes from the June 13, 2005 meeting as written. All yes. Motion passed.
DISCUSSION: Building Tear Down
ACTION: Gilmour stated that asbestos was found in the ductwork in the basement that has to be removed before the building is demolished. The EPA requires ten days then company that removes asbestos will remove it and demo company will take down building.
DISCUSSION: Part-Time Police Officer
ACTION: The Chief has four applications and will be ready to recommend a candidate at the next Committee meeting.
DISCUSSION: Sale
of Confiscated Property
ACTION: A 1998 Mustang, manual transmission was confiscated in a drug
arrest. The Department would like to
sell for minimum bid of $7,500. The
funds will go into a separate Drug Fund that is mandated by law to only spend
on drug related law enforcement items.

Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to recommend to full
Council to sell the Mustang for a minimum bid of $7,500. All yes.

DISCUSSION: MANS
Unit
ACTION: Chief stated that the Department receives $4,000 quarterly, as part of a
grant, to compensate for the MANS Officer’s salary, and will subsidize his
overtime from $5,000-$6,000 a year. The
Committee requested the MANS Officer and his Director to attend the August
Committee meeting.

ACTION: Alderman
Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to go into Executive
Session at 5:42 pm to discuss a specific Personnel Issue. All yes.

Session at 6:05 pm. All yes. Motion
passed. No action was taken.
