PRESENT: Executive Secretary Puracchio, Chief Jim Metta, City Administrator Rob Nelis, Officer Evans, Mayor McGann, Water/Sewer Superintendent Ken Jeffries.
DISCUSSION: Tower/Communication Timeline
ACTION: Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Brown seconded to open discussions at 5:31 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Hermes deferred the discussion to City Administrator Rob Nelis. Rob explained that he met with Ken and Jim. They put together a task schedule (see attached). Nothing can take place until the Appropriations Ordinance is amended in January.
Rob asked everyone to view the rough diagram (see attached) of the options of antennae placement. The committee agreed the ideal place would be where the Tenn’s building is located. Alderman Gilmour provided a letter that he received from the building owner’s attorney (see attached).
Rob explained a payment schedule. The Committee asked Ken how long
the Hy Tech offer was good on the present estimate the City received to dismantle the water tower. Ken stated until the spring.
Rob expressed his concerns over not going to bid on these projects. The City needed to have protection and the only way that could be obtained was through a bidding process. The Committee agreed to put all projects up for bid.
The Chief stated that he had spoken with ComEd and their timeframe to move their services probably would not occur until March.
The Committee will ask the full Council at the December 7 Council meeting to name a representative to negotiate the sale of the Tenn’s building. Rob asked that Sheryl put all this information into the Council meeting packet.
DISCUSSION: Other Issues
ACTION: The Chief said that he would like to discuss the hiring of the Crossing Guard and two part-time dispatchers at the next Police Committee meeting on December 13.
DISCUSSION: Adjournment
ACTION: Alderman Brown made a motion and Alderman Kasalko seconded to adjourn at 5:55 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
