City Council

January 3, 2006

 

Mayor Roy Strong, presiding.

 

The meeting was called to order with Scout Troop 458 presenting the colors and the pledge to the flag.

 

The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Gilmour, Mietzner, Orr, Hermes, Strong, Johnston, and Hoppe.

 

Absent: Plese

 

Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to Approve the Minutes of the December 20, 2005 meeting as presented and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.

 

Mayor’s Report:

 

Mayor Strong stated there will be a blood drive at City Hall on January 12 from 3-7 p.m. He invited everyone to come and give a pint.

 

Mayor Strong introduced Randy Hill, Troop Leader for Troop 458. The Council honored 3 of the troop scouts for making Eagle rank; John Dusold, Eric Russell and Jared Hill.  There have been 8 scouts in this troop who have achieved this rank which is high compared to the national average.  The Council applauded the efforts of the Eagle Scouts and Troop 458.

 

Citizen’s Comments:  John Tamblyn a homeowner on Towpath Lane addressed the Council about a neighborhood pit bull situation.  He has asked the Council to consider putting restrictions on vicious/dangerous animals.  The Council agreed to research this.

 

Planning and Zoning Committee: Next scheduled meeting will be January 5, 2006 at 7 pm.

 

Health/Safety/Building/Grounds Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Water/Sewer/Streets/Alleys Committee: Next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, January 11 at 5:30 pm

 

Police and ESDA Committee: The next meeting will be Monday, January 9 at 5:30 p.m.

 

Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Approve the Fallen Ridge Subdivision Plat based on the review of the City Engineer. All yes. Motion passed.

 

The next meeting will be Tuesday, January 17, at 6:30 p.m.

 

Ordinance and License Committee: The next meeting will be Tuesday, January 11, at 6:30 p.m.

 

Personnel and Insurance Committee:

Alderman Mietzner welcomed John McIntyre as the new City Administrator.

 

 

JADA:  Nothing to report at this time.

 

City Administrator Report:  City Administrator McIntyre stated that he has now completed his first day with the City and has felt very welcomed.  He looks forward to working with the Council.

 

Attorney’s Report: Attorney Fredin stated he had nothing to report at this time.

 

Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to Adjourn the Meeting at 7:15 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
