City Council
October 4, 2005
Mayor Roy Strong, presiding.
The meeting was called to order with a pledge to the flag.
The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Gilmour, Johnston, Mietzner, Orr, Hermes, Strong and Hoppe.
Absent: Plese
Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to Accept the Minutes of the September 6 and September 20 meetings as written and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.
Mayor’s Report:
The Mayor stated there will be a Special City Council meeting on October 11, 2005 on the 150 Operators Annexation.
Alderman Johnston made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Approve the request for a tag day on Saturday, May 6, 2006 for the Wilmington Cooperstown Baseball Team. All yes. Motion passed.
The Mayor announced there will be a Household Hazardous Waste pick-up at the City Hall parking lot on Saturday, October 22 from 8am until 3pm. This is sponsored by the Will County Land Use Department.
Citizen’s Comments: There were none.
Planning and Zoning Committee: The next scheduled meeting
is Thursday, October 6 at 7 p.m.
Health/Safety/Building/Grounds
Committee: Nothing to report at
this time.
Water/Sewer/Streets/Alleys
Committee: Alderman Gilmour
made a motion and Alderman Orr seconded to Accept the bid from Alpha
Paintworks from Chicago for the repainting of the lime silo not to exceed
$16,900.00. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Orr presented
the second Reading of the Public Utility Delinquencies, Discontinuance of Service,
and Dispute Resolution Ordinance.
Next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, October 12 at 5:30 pm
Police and ESDA
Committee: Mayor Strong announced that Police Chief Metta has submitted
his resignation effective June 1, 2006 and the City will be actively searching
for a replacement.
The next meeting
will be Monday, October 10 at 5:30 p.m.
Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Gilmour
seconded for William Davy to establish a letter of credit in the amount of
$15,000., which is 15% of the original letter of credit and is needed for the
maintenance when work is completed at Davy Industrial Park Units 4 and
5, based on the recommendation of the City Engineer. Hoppe passed. All others yes. Motion passed.
Mr. Davy was looking
for approval of the road that was recently repaved in the industrial park.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 18, at 6:30 p.m.
Ordinance and
License Committee: Alderman Orr
presented the second reading of the Ordinance amending the electrical wiring
code. Language needed to be changed to
reflect a current date.
Alderman Orr stated the next meeting will be rescheduled to Thursday, October 20 at 6:30 p.m. because of the Special City Council Meeting.
Personnel and
Insurance Committee: Executive Secretary Puracchio stated the ad for City Administrator is on the IML
website. It will be in their magazine
next month.
The City has
received 5 applications and Alderman Mietzner would like to conduct an
interview of one of the candidates next week if possible.
JADA: Nothing to report at this time.
City Staff Report: Nothing to report at this time.
Attorney’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.
Bill Davy asked the City to contact IDOT about the traffic congestion on Route 53 and work with the powers that be on running water and sewer to I-55.
Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to Adjourn the Meeting at 7:21 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
