The meeting was called to order with a pledge to the flag.

 

The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Brown, Strong, Kasalko, Gilmour, Hermes, and Melhorn.

 

Absent: Plese and Cox

 

Alderman Brown made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to Accept the Minutes of the February 15, 2005 meeting as written and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.

 

Mayor’s Report: Mayor McGann presented a plaque with the Key to the City to Sue Johnston upon her retirement and her outstanding service to the City for the past 25 years.

Johnston thanked the Mayor and the Council for the honor of serving the City and for recognizing her.

 

Mayor McGann recognized the five Wilmington High School State qualifying wrestlers:

Chris Alberico 189 lbs, record 28-8, Pat Tally 125 lbs, record 28-7, Tony Vercelli 215 lbs, record 35-2, and third at State, Josh Peters 145 lbs, record 35-7 and second at State, Rob Murphy 160 lbs, record 38-1 and first at State.  He also recognized coaches Petrovic VanDuyne, and Murphy. Alderman Strong also recognized the parents.

 

Alderman Brown made a motion and Alderman Melhorn seconded to Approve the request for Tootsie Roll Days on Friday September 9 and Saturday September 10 for the Knights of Columbus.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

Citizen’s Comments: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Planning and Zoning Committee:  The March meeting has been canceled. The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m.

 

Police Commission:  Nothing to report at this time.

 

DRC: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Health/Safety/Building/Grounds Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Water/Sewer/Streets/Alleys Committee:

 

Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Brown seconded to Approve Resolution #2005-04, A Resolution for Maintenance of Street and Highways by Municipality Under the Illinois Highway Code. All yes.  Motion passed.

 

Next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, March 9, at 5:30 pm

 

Police and ESDA Committee:  Alderman Hermes stated that there will be a Nuclear Drill at Dresden on March 9th. The next meeting will be Monday, March 14, at 5:30 p.m.

 

Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 15, at 6:00 p.m.

 

Ordinance and License Committee:  The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 8 at 5:30 p.m.

 

Personnel and Insurance Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

JADA:  Nothing to report at this time.

 

City Administrator’s Report:  Rob Nelis stated that the joint meeting with the Planning & Zoning Commission and the Council held on Wednesday, February 23, was successful in setting the goals for future development.

 

Attorney’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Alderman Brown made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to Adjourn the Meeting at 7:17 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
