City Council

March 15, 2005

 

The meeting was called to order with a pledge to the flag.

 

The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Brown, Strong, Kasalko, Gilmour, Hermes, Plese, Cox and Melhorn.

 

Absent

 

Alderman Brown made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Accept the Minutes of the March 1, 2005 meeting as written and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.

 

Mayor’s Report: Alderman Brown made a motion and Alderman Kasalko seconded to Approve the Request for the Kankakee Shriners to Hold Their Vadalia Onion Sales on April 29 from 1-5, April 30 9-5, and May 1 9-1 in the City Hall Parking Lot.  All yes.  Motion passed

 

Mayor McGann stated that there will be a Spring Clean-Up scheduled for the week of April 11.

 

Mayor McGann recognized Jessoni Plese as the Student of the Month for her outstanding athletic achievements at Wilmington High School.

 

A road sign has been ordered for Rob Murphy recognizing his wrestling State championship.

Treasurer’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Planning and Zoning Committee:  There will be a special Planning and Zoning Meeting for Prairie Farms on March 30 at 7pm.

 

The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, April 7 at 7 p.m.

 

Police Commission:  Nothing to report at this time.

 

DRC: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Health/Safety/Building/Grounds Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Water/Sewer/Streets/Alleys Committee:

 

Alderman Cox made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Approve Resolution #2005-05, A Resolution for Maintenance of Street and Highways by Municipality Under the Illinois Highway Code, for a cost not to exceed $350,000. Alderman Cox abstained, all other yes.  Motion passed.

 

Alderman Strong made a motion and Alderman Brown seconded to Approve an Agreement Terminating a Recapture Agreement Between the City of Wilmington and Joseph Kintz and Robin Kintz.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

Alderman Strong made a motion and Alderman Brown seconded to Approve Ordinance No. 05-03-15-03, An Ordinance Authorizing an Agreement Terminating a Recapture Agreement Between the City of Wilmington and Joseph Kintz and Robin Kintz.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

Alderman Strong made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to Approve the Purchase of a Honeywell 4 Pen Recorder and Honeywell 1 Pen Recorder from Control Consulting Inc. for a Price not to exceed $3,610.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

Next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, April 13 at 5:30 pm

 

Police and ESDA Committee:  The next meeting will be Monday, April 11, at 5:30 p.m.

 

Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: Alderman Plese made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to Approve the February’s Collector Report in the Amount of $132,858.70 and the Payables in the Amount of $158,672.85 All yes. Motion passed.

 

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 19, at 6:30 p.m.

 

Ordinance and License Committee: Alderman Kasalko made a motion and Alderman Brown seconded to Approve Ordinance No 05-03-15-02, An Ordinance Adopting and Publishing the Official Zoning Map of the City of Wilmington, Will County Illinois Subject to review by the City Planner.  Cox passed All Others Yes.  Motion passed.

 

The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 12 at 5:30 p.m.

 

Personnel and Insurance Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

JADA:  Alderman Plese stated that JADA hopes to have a warehouse at the Industrial Park within 18 months and are working hard to develop the Industrial Park.

 

City Administrator’s Report:  Nothing to report at this time.

 

Attorney’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Cox seconded to Adjourn the Meeting at 7:18 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
