Mayor, Roy Strong, presiding.

 

The meeting was called to order with a pledge to the flag.

 

Alderman Plese made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to have Sheryl Puracchio serve as Acting City Clerk.  All yes. Motion passed

 

The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Gilmour, Hermes, Plese, Johnston, Mietzner, and Hoppe.

 

Absent: Orr

 

Alderman Hoppe made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Accept the Minutes of the May 3 2005 meeting and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.

 

Mayor’s Report: Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Accept the Mayor’s Recommended Appointments as Presented.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to Approve the 2005-2006 Standing Committees as Presented.  All yes.  Motion passed.

 

Mayor Strong encouraged everyone to attend the Free Cholesterol Screening at City Hall on Saturday May 21, from 8 a.m. until noon.

 

Mayor Strong read the National Garden Club Week Proclamation from June 5-11.

 

Rose Dennis from the Lions Club presented a proposal on the beautification of the west end of the Kankakee River Bridge.  The Lion’s Club has worked in conjunction with Mark Custer’s Landscape Design Class from Joliet Junior College. The Council enthusiastically supported the Lion’s Club proposal.

 

Citizen’s Comments: Jim Brown requested that the City move forward on the replacement of fire hydrants at Lombardi’s, were the old Veterinarian Building and Grundy Bank.

 

Treasurer’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Planning and Zoning Committee:  The next scheduled meeting is Thursday, June 2 at 7 p.m.

 

Police Commission:  Nothing to report at this time.

 

DRC: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Health/Safety/Building/Grounds Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Water/Sewer/Streets/Alleys Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Next scheduled meeting is Wednesday, June 15 at 5:30 pm

 

Police and ESDA Committee:  Nothing to report at this time.

 

The next meeting will be Monday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m.

 

Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: Alderman Plese made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to Approve the April Collector’s Report in the Amount of $142,584.67 and the April Payables, in the Amount of $332,709.60.  All yes. Motion passed.

 

Alderman Plese made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Approve the Payment of $98,596.35 to Broadway Construction Services as Second Payment for the 2003 CDBG Grant – Kankakee River Drive Waterman Project.  All yes.  Motion passed

 

The next meeting will be Tuesday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m.

 

Ordinance and License Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

Personnel and Insurance Committee: Nothing to report at this time.

 

JADA:  Alderman Plese stated that the Board has been working hard and by the summer there should be an annexation agreement.

 

City Administrator’s Report:  Rob Nelis reported there will be a Joint Planning & Zoning Commission and Council Meeting on Tuesday May 24 at 6:30 pm to discuss goals and direction.  There will also be an Executive Session Personnel Committee Meeting on May 24 at 5:30 pm.

 

Attorney’s Report: Nothing to report at this time.

 

Alderman Plese made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Adjourn the Meeting at 7:25 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
