The meeting was called to order with the pledge to the flag.
The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Mietzner, Orr, Strong, Hermes, Hoppe, and Gilmour.
Absent: Plese
Alderman Hoppe made a motion and Alderman Strong seconded to Approve the Minutes of the December 19, 2006 meeting as presented, and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.
Mayor’s Report: Mayor Strong announced that the blood drive had 29 donors and the next blood drive will be sometime in the Spring. He announced his recommendation of Floyd Combes for the 2nd Ward Vacancy and spoke briefly about why he recommended Mr. Combes.
Alderman Strong made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to Accept the Mayor’s Recommended Appointment of Floyd Combes for the 2nd Ward Vacancy. All yes. Motion passed.
Citizen’s Comments: Bob Thomas questioned the Mayor as to why he did not consider him for the 2nd Ward seat since he ran 5 times for the Alderman position. The Mayor stated he felt he made the right decision.
Larry Hall questioned the Mayor as to a statement he thought the Mayor made stating he would not appoint anyone for the ward seat and just wait for the April election. The Mayor stated he did not believe he made that statement and that was never his intent.
Planning and Zoning Committee: Nothing at this time. Next scheduled meeting is Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
Water, Sewer, Streets & Alleys Committee: Nothing at this time. Next scheduled meeting is on Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 5:30 p.m.
Police and ESDA Committee: Nothing at this time. Next scheduled meeting is Monday, January 8, 2007 at 5:30 p.m.
Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: Nothing at this time. Next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.
Ordinance and License Committee: Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Approve Resolution No. 2007-1 recognizing the Heritage Corridor Convention and Visitors Bureau as the Agency to Promote Convention and Tourism in the City of Wilmington. All yes. Motion passed. The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at 6:00 p.m.
Personnel and Insurance Committee: Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Approve Ordinance #07-01-02-01, an Ordinance Establishing the Office of Director of Finance. All yes. Motion passed.
JADA: Nothing to report at this time.
City Administrator Report: John McIntyre spoke briefly about his goals for 2007 and the studies he is doing on the historic downtown Wilmington.
Attorney’s Report: Attorney Fredin had nothing to report at this time.
Executive Session: Nothing at this time.
Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Gilmour seconded to Adjourn the Meeting at 7:28 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
