The meeting was called to order with the pledge to the flag.
The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Mietzner, Orr, Strong, Hermes, Hoppe, and Plese.
Absent: Gilmour
Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Strong seconded to Approve the Minutes of the January 2, 2007 meeting as presented, and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.
Mayor’s Report: City Clerk Sheila Long swore in the new Ward Two Alderman, Floyd Combes.
Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Plese seconded to Appoint Bryan Humphries to the Police Pension Board. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Plese seconded to Approve the Request for the Building Trades DADS Tag Day June 16, 2007 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Mietzner spoke about
the importance of this day and urged the Council and family members to donate
to this cause.
Citizen’s Comments: None at this time.
Planning and Zoning Committee: Alderman Hoppe made a motion and Alderman Plese seconded to Approve the Subdivision Request in O’Brien’s Subdivision from one lot to three based off the recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission. All yes. Motion Passed.
Next scheduled meeting is Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.
Health, Safety, Buildings, Grounds & Parks Committee: Nothing at this time.
Water, Sewer, Streets & Alleys Committee: Alderman Strong made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to Approve the Contractual Agreement between Environ and the City of Wilmington for the Landfill Closure, not to exceed $11,000. All yes. Motion passed.
Next scheduled meeting is on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at 5:30 p.m.
Police and ESDA Committee: Nothing at this time. Next scheduled meeting is Monday, February 12, 2007 at 5:30 p.m.
Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: Alderman
Plese made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to Approve the November Payables in the amount of $299, 245.76 and the November
Collector’s Report in the amount of $130,745.91. All yes. Motion
passed.
Next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.
Ordinance and License Committee: Nothing at this time. The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at 6:00 p.m.
Personnel and Insurance Committee: Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to Approve Resolution No. 2007-2 Designating Meeting dates and times in 2007 for the Corporate Authorities and Commissions of the City of Wilmington as Amended. All yes. Motion passed.
Amendment to site: The meetings for the City Council and Finance will be held on April 16, 2007. The changes are due to the upcoming elections that will be held on the regular meeting date of April 17, 2007.
JADA: Nothing to report at this time.
City Administrator Report: John McIntyre informed the Council that he has spoken to the Department Heads about his 2007 plans for the City of Wilmington. Wants the Council to look over the plans and contact him with any changes they may want to make. Also distributed information regarding Community Maps Plus. States that he thought this may be a good idea since we have so many new residences and business moving into the City of Wilmington. The maps would be ready around October and thought they were very good quality. Would like to keep the maps stocked up throughout the businesses and City Hall for residences and visitors.
Spoke briefly about the new streetlight being knocked down by a semi in front of the Post Office.
Attorney’s Report: Attorney Eric Hanson distributed a memo to the Council regarding changes to the Open Meetings Act.
Executive Session: Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to Go into closed Executive Session to Discuss Collective Bargaining at 7:36 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Orr seconded to Come back into open session at 8:01 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Mietzner stated nothing was discussed in closed session to take action on at this time.
Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to Adjourn the Meeting at 8:02 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
