City Council
August 15, 2006
Mayor Roy Strong, presiding.
The meeting was called to order with the pledge to the flag.
The clerk called the roll finding the following Aldermen present: Mietzner, Strong, Gilmour, Hermes, Johnston, Orr, and Hoppe.
Absent: Plese
Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to Approve the Minutes as presented, of the August 1, 2006 meeting and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.
Mayor’s Report: The Mayor reported that the last drowning victim was found this morning.
Citizen’s Comments: Bill Davy asked that someone from the City check on the Union Pacific electric lines running along their property. The lines are active and some are laying within inches of the ground. The Council asked McIntyre to check into this.
Planning and Zoning Committee: Next scheduled meeting will be August 24,
2006 at 7 p.m.
Health/Safety/Building/Grounds
Committee: Nothing to report at
this time.
Water/Sewer/Streets/Alleys
Committee: Alderman Gilmour
stated the fire hydrants will be painted by October 31st. Next
scheduled meeting is Wednesday, September 13 at 5:30 p.m.
Police and ESDA
Committee: The next meeting
will be Monday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m.
Finance/Administration/Land Acquisition Committee: Alderman
Hermes made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to Approve Patrick
Engineering’s review of the City Landfill Documents not to exceed $5,000. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Hermes made
a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to Approve the July Collector’s
Report in the amount of $162,652.81 and the July payables in the amount of
$185,894.26. All yes. Motion
passed.
The next meeting will be Tuesday, September 19, at 6:30 p.m.
Ordinance and License Committee: Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Mietzner seconded to approve Ordinance #06-08-15-02, an Ordinance Authorizing a Joint Application for Expansion of the Joliet Arsenal Enterprise Zone. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Orr made a motion and Alderman Hoppe seconded to approve Ordinance #06-08-15-01, an Ordinance Amending Chapter 157 of the Code of Ordinances – Building Code. All yes. Motion passed.
The next scheduled meeting is for Tuesday, September 12, at 6:00 p.m.
Personnel and Insurance Committee: Nothing to report at this time.
JADA:
Nothing to report at this time.
City Administrator Report:
McIntyre reported on the Heritage Corridor and the Southwest Chamber of
Commerce.
McIntyre asked Council members to pick a date for the Jackhammers Game. August 30 was agreed upon Council members will get back to Puracchio on their attendance.
Attorney’s Report:
Attorney Fredin had nothing to report
at this time.
Executive Session: Alderman Mietzner made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to go
into executive session to discuss specific personnel issues at 7:19 p.m.. All yes. Motion passed.
Alderman Mietzner
made a motion and Alderman Orr seconded to return Regular Session at 7:43
p.m.. All yes. Motion passed.
No action was taken.
Mayor Strong
reported at the next meeting he will be asking to appoint Don Friddle as the
Building Inspector.
Bill Davy also
stated that he wants the City to get on the County and State over the road
issues in town.

Adjourn the Meeting at 7:47 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
