DISCUSSION: Minutes
ACTION: Alderman Strong called the meeting to order at 5:32
Alderman Gilmour made a motion and Alderman Hermes seconded to approve the minutes as presented and have them placed on file. All yes. Motion passed.
DISCUSSION: Kahler Road Sidewalk
ACTION: Anderson Construction still has to do the restoration on
the project. Puracchio spoke with the City Engineer and he will get a timeframe
to the City. The City will be acknowledging Glenney and the Shell’s for
allowing the City to run the sidewalk on their property.
DISCUSSION: Daniels
Sidewalk
ACTION: Van Duyne stated
that a resident has requested that the City vacate the easement. The Committee said they would not vacate
that due to water/sewer lines and access issues.
DISCUSSION: Pump
House Teardown
ACTION: City crew will have to compact the site with gravel and road mix. The well has to be capped at approximately $6,000. County sets the regulations.
DISCUSSION: School Drainage
ACTION: McIntyre stated that a resident that abuts the School’s Building Trade lots was concerned that grading on the lots would affect his lot.
According to the grading plan the City Engineer provided, the building trade lots were lower than the existing lots. McIntyre will notify resident.
DISCUSSION: Removal
of Old Street Lights
ACTION: Dave Van Duyne from Van/Mack will be removing the lights in the near future. Orr stated that they need to be aware of the fact that there are phone lines running toward ACME that are not active and lines running by the salon that appear to be active.
DISCUSSION: Downtown
Lighting
ACTION: Orr stated that Dave VanDuyne believes he will be able to complete phase two under his original bid.
DISCUSSION: Water
Tower Status
ACTION: The City will be allowed to waive the competitive bidding process on this if necessary. It will take 1 to 2 days to tear down. Gilmour would like to see it started on December 1.
DISCUSSION: Miscellaneous
ACTION: County Road Impact Fee – The plan is still not clear. Mark Shell and Jay Plese are on this committee and have presented the City’s views to the County Committee.
Embassy Care – Mr. Draiman expressed his concerns to the Committee. He hired a company that the City recommended to assess the meters. The company stated it appeared the meter heads were wrong and Embassy Care was being charged almost double. He asked that the City remove the lien immediately. The Mayor stated that the City will have to research this before the lien could be removed. Draiman was concerned with the timing and stated he wanted this to be rectified right away or his attorney would be contacting the City. Jeffries said he would review it right away and get back to him as soon as possible.
Leaf Vacuum Program – Van Duyne stated
that the City crew is having a hard time keeping up with the leaves. The Committee agreed to have two seasonal
workers next year to work the leaf vacuum. Make sure he adds this item to the
budget. Van Duyne asked that a notice in the paper goes out to state the final
date – December 8
City Sidewalks – Hermes stated he would
like to see some publicity that shows how many sidewalks have been done in the
City. This year the City Council has
made a major commitment to improving the City’s infrastructure.
New Hire – Van Duyne stated there were a
little over a dozen applications received for the city crew. He and John will review them and have a
recommendation to the Council.

ACTION: Alderman Hermes made a motion and Alderman Johnston seconded to adjourn the meeting at 6:01 p.m. All yes. Motion passed.
