Additional Motor
Fuel Tax Allotment: The
bids were opened and D’Construction was the low bidder at $41,567.08 which will
be presented to the City Council on April 6th for approval. This
project will befin after April 15th and
includes alleyway pavement, sidewalks, ADA ramps and other streetscape work in
the downtown area.
DCEO Grant ($150,000) RT 53
Improvements & Pedestrian Bridge: The Bridge is tentatively scheduled for
placement during the week of April 25th. The goal is to have the
work completed by May 5th.
Police Facility Site Assessment: This
is on hold the School District will be discussing our proposal at their April
13, 2011 school board meeting. An update will be discussed at the City Council
meeting on April 19th and at the Finance Committee Meeting on April
19th Healy Bender will have an updated presentation regarding their
scope of architectural services for preliminary design and site assessment for
the Booth Central School location, along with construction management services
regarding the demolotion of Booth School.
Water Plant Maintenance and Plant
Assessment, Intake Screens: This project has been
advertised for bid on February 28, 2011; bid opening has been extended because
no bids were received because of the Disadvantage Business Enterprise
publication requirement needs to be published 15 days before the bid opening as
an IEPA regulatory loan requirement. This was discussed at the pre-bid meeting
with the perspective bidders. Howard Hamilton is working closely with the
contractors.
Chestnut Property – Property for
Sale: No activity, I contacted the one potential buyer
and he is still thinking about submitting an offer.
Drug Free Coalition Grant Update: The Project Coordinator Megan Cassidy began
her first day on March 7, 2011 and she has been introducing herself around the
City. The lease agreement has been completed for their new office space at No
Box It in Winchester Plaza.
NIMS Compliance Update: ESDA Director Dennis
Housman is preparing the training schedule to begin the process for City Staff
to receive certification. Our goal is to have training begin in April.
Forked Creek/Kankakee Street
Bridge: Phase 1 engineering has begun.
Claypool
Drainage District Meeting: Here is a brief summary prepared by
Tim Juskiewicz P.E. Hamilton Engineering of what was discussed at the
Grundy/Will joint meeting on March 16, 2011.
Hamilton Engineering will be assessing how much of
the City is in the Claypool Drainage District and will provide the City an
exhibit.
RT 53 & New River Road Intersection
Improvements (IDOT Project): The final design plans
have been reviewed and submitted with the City’s recommendation for a bike
trail, interconnect with the RT 53/Peotone Rd intersection and pre-emption
equipment.
I-55 Interchange Plans for Lorenzo
Road and RT 129: IDOT is preparing to have the public
forum in April. When I received a confirmed date an email will be sent and IDOT
will have a press release announcement. Also, RT 129 Southbound Exit is being
structurally analyzed and there is a good possibility that this exit maybe
closed this summer. More information will follow as I continue to meet with
IDOT.
Community Development Block Grant:
The televising will begin after approval of the proposal ($3,800) by City
Council on March 15, 2011.
Widows Road Street Overlay Project:
The bid for this project will be in the Free Press Newspaper on March 23, 2011
and the bid opening will be April 1, 2011.

Lorenzo Road & Route 129 Interchange.
