City Administrator Report

January 27, 2012

 

 

1.     IKE Grant (North Kahler Road) Update:

 

Preliminary Engineering plans are under review and a City Engineer had a meeting with the School District this week and is planning on setting up the neighborhood meeting in February. The project timeline is to have final engineering completed by March and prepare to go to bid this Spring with construction beginning in May.

 

2.     City Wide Spring Clean Up Scheduled for May 17, 2012:

 

Waste Management will pick up at curbside during this week which will include: ranges, washers, dryers, appliances with FREON, tubs, water heaters, light fixtures, glass mirror, carpet, padding (limit 50 lb rolls) and automobile tires (limit of 4 – rims). All items must be placed curbside by 6 AM on Thursday May 17th.

 

3.     Illinois Transport Project Update (JADA Site):

 

Final engineering and building plans are under review with the plan for mass grading to begin iin March along with a sign placed on the property next week.

 

4.     City is awarded Safe School Route Grant:

 

The City received the announcement as a recipient of the grant award for Safe School Routes in the amount of $7,880.00 Wilmington Safe School Route Infrastructure Project Install new or improved pavement markings or legends L J STEVENS MIDDLE SCHOOL and $89,821.00 Wilmington Safe School Route Infrastructure Project Install new or improved signage (school zone, speed limits, crosswalk, speed feedback signs (fixed), etc.)

 

5.     Public Hearing scheduled at Planning Commission for Wind Turbine Ordinance:

 

A public hearing is schedule for the Zoning Text Amendment for Electric Generating Devices and Equipment (Wind Turbines) the hearing is scheduled for February 2, 2012 at 6:00 pm City Hall.

 

 

 

6.     Railroad Depot Update:

 

The demolition permit was issued and the contractor is planning on doing the work next week. The contractor will allow our public works to collect materials before hauling the demo materials off site, which was agreed upon by the Union Pacific.

 

7.     Barkery Remodeling Update:

 

Final walk through inspection should be in the next 2 weeks.

 

8.     ESDA Emergency Management Training – Nuclear Plant:

 

On January 26, 2011 a training exercise was conducting for review of the procedures to address an emergency response if there was an incident at the Braidwood Nuclear Facility. Another training exercise will be conducted in March 2012 in cooperation with the State and Will County Emergency Agency. These are funding through a grant.
