City Administrator Report

1. IKE
Grant (North Kahler Road) Update:
The review and
selection of the Engineering Firm was completed and McClure Engineering was
selected. The scope of services agreement will be prepared and site work will
begin November 8, 2011. There will be a couple of informative neighborhood
meetings over the next few months, along with meeting with School Staff, Grace Lutheran
Church and Methodist Church. The engineering design plans are scheduled to be
completed by April 1st.
2. Building
Department Update – Building Inspector:
The Commercial
Inspection service (ICCI) which was introduced at the last building and grounds
committee has proposed to perform all building inspection services. Currently,
the inspection fees schedule which is proposed is under staff review and will
be presented at next weeks Building and Grounds Committee meeting. More discussion is planned at the committee
meeting and currently Will County is still conducting residential and
miscellaneous permit inspections.
3. ILLIANA
Update:
Another work study meeting was conducted
on 10/25/2011 in Merriville, Indiana and the group reviewed the updated
corridors and other 2010 -2040 demographical data as it will impact the
transportation system currently and the future impacts with a no build scenario
and a new Illiana Expressway. Next meeting is scheduled for December 6th
for the work study group in Matteson, IL. A public meeting for an update is
planned to be in December, too.
4. Widows
Road Landscaping:
The 28 white pine trees (12 -15 ft) have
been delivered and plan to be installed this week.
5. Motor
Fuel Tax Road Improvement Project:
The pre-construction meeting was conducted and the
project will begin on November 7th and here is the street list:

Street from Kankakee Street to Main Street

Street from N. Joliet Street to N. Washington Street

Street from Charlotte Street to dead end

Street from Roland Avenue to Elwood Street

6. Speed
Study Wilmington-Peotone Road:
Will County Highway was contacted and
they will perform this study with the City’s goal to reduce the speed which is
currently posted at 55 mph from RT 53 to Riley Road.
7. Lorenzo
Road Jurisdictional Transfer from Will County to City of Wilmington:
All the documents have been prepared for engineer
and legal review, along with IDOT and more to follow at the next WSSA Committee
Meeting.
8. Route
66 Experience Hub Update:
The City was notified the
design will be completed for the Experience Inactive Hub to be placed in
Wilmington. The City’s costs was going to be $6,000 however, Heritage Trail
will pay 50% of the City’s costs. The possible location will be near the
Pedestrian Bridge area. There will be
more information as we continue to work with Route 66 Association and the
Scenic By-Way Association.
9. Water
Billing Meter and Leak Detection Update:
The installation is about 95% complete
and the radio read repeater system should be completed within the next 2 weeks.
The monthly billing will be for all city areas this month. ME
Simpson has completed the leak detection analysis of the City water system and
a report will be available in about 2 weeks no major leaks were found but at
least
10-12 leaks were located.
