154.01 Permit required.

It shall be unlawful to install, construct, add to, or alter any electrical wiring or perform any electrical work in the city without obtaining an electrical permit. (Ord. 656, passed 12-19-72) Penalty, see Section 154.99

154.03 Specifications and requirements.

(A) There is hereby adopted by the city as its electrical code for the city the Current National Electric Code, save and except such portions as are modified by the other provisions of this Chapter 154. At least three copies have been and are now filed in the office of the city clerk and the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein. The provisions thereof shall be controlling in the electrical installations of all buildings and structures therein contained within the corporate limits of the city. (Ord. 656, passed 12-19-72; Am. 154.04 Inspections.

All electrical work shall be subject to inspection by the electrical inspector. No electrical work or installation shall be covered before the rough-in inspection. (Ord. 656, passed 12-19-72; Am. Ord. 1422, passed 4-16-02) Penalty, see Section 154.99

154.05 Miscellaneous.

All workmanship and materials and all electrical installations or alterations shall conform in all respects to the latest rules and regulations of the National Board of Fire Underwriters and the National Electrical Code, except where the same conflicts with or is forbidden by the Electrical Code of the State of Illinois or the city of Wilmington. 154.06 Enforcement.

The adoption of the National Electric Code as herein provided is further modified so that wherever in any of said code it is provided that anything must be done to the approval of or subject to the direction of the enforcing officer, such officer shall have only the authority and power to determine whether the rules and regulations established by this chapter have been complied with, and shall not be construed as giving such officer discretionary powers. 154.99 Penalty.

Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not less than $50 and not more than $500 for each offense. A separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues. (Am. Ord. 1056, passed 4-18-89)
